Thanks, legend! I got in touch with Chris-$4,860 for the bag. I'll need some kind of chlorine tablets each week to prevent it from fouling.
I'm a bit excited-having my boat clean will be such a relief. Otherwise, it gets so slow it's not even funny. Every two weeks, the sides get so dirty and green that I end up hurting my arms scrubbing them with a cloth and oxalic acid. It's just too much maintenance for me.
And then there are all these experiments with copper and who knows what other chemicals-working one time and failing the next-it's driving me mad. Let's see how the bag performs. According to Chris, I should be out of this misery in 5-7 years.

I think NSW made them illegal way back but they are back in small numbers. I think the concern was over chemicals owners might have used inside them

Chlorine will leach out after a week or two just because its open to sunlight but barnacles only attach and grow if there are nutrients in the water. Algae growth would be the only issue so a harmless pool chlorine tablet will fix that.

I have been bagging my folding prop for 3 years without any added chemicals and the prop is pristine when the bag is removed, but its not exposed to daylight anyway. Growth builds up quickly on the outside of the bag and requires a good scrub monthly.

Thanks. I will try to maintain that bag as mulch as I can . It is shocking to constantly cleaning the boat, my boat has Coopercote and you can remove barnacles with you finger as they are getting weak but still those barnacles makes my boat slow. Bag will at least keep the bottom clean keep that pleasure of light cruise with a low engine noice a live..
