Hi crew. There's what appears to be a good buy for one of these here in WA. 100k. It's a 1993 Moorings 445. Anyone familiar with one of these? Not a real lot to find on the net.

I believe SS is correct. Moorings is a "charter brand". They did the same with Jeanneau. Lots of them in the Caribbean. As far as I know, they are just the same as an Oceanis but might have a few charter specific specs, more like a Cyclades maybe?

Check the history, If chartered, probably very high engine hours, maybe hit the bricks a few times (check the keel bolts, internal grid). Check the rudder stock. Later model Bene's have some very average designs that have sunk a few. Chainplates also. I reckon earlier Beneteau's (circa 2000 or thereabouts) are pretty solid (eh Toph!).

Nothing wrong with an ex charter as they usually well maintained but have high usage. Just need a good look.

I am very happy still with my Benny for the type of sailing that we do.

Personally, I don't concern myself too much with high time engines on any of the boats I have owned. I would prefer high time but well maintained over low time and not maintained. As FreeRadical said, charter fleets are usually well maintained.

What I found though when looking at a few ex charter boats, was that they tend to be very light on appliance and instruments. Depending on how many previous owners have added there bits, you might want to budget on a few upgrades.

5 previous owners with 2 circumnavigations. 1993 with good instruments including HF and 2 plotters. One keel bolt has evidence of tightening.
Engine has 4400 hrs. Will be single handed mostly and it's a fair rig for one person so a few 2nd thoughts. Beautiful clean boat tho. Was in survey but no word on charter.
