Anyone know the average depth of water Batemans Bay, sounds like there talking about in front of the Reef Hotel, want to buy a mooring line which has spliced loops, 3 meters, 6, 9,10 etc, I use the opposite ramp to drop my glass boat in Ive never sounded the area to see how deep.
Isn't that the wrong side of the bridge?
Also a mate of mine kept a boat in Batemans for a few years and he always said the chain etc wore out pretty quick due to the strong tidal flow and slight swell that rolls in.
might be worth talking to some locals about what works for that area. Definately oversize the metal parts.
i also had a mooring in a location with strong tidal flow and it wore 16mm chain down to 8 in 2 years.
I have a Compass 28 moored in front of of Soldiers Esplanade. The Clyde is quite deep in parts and very quickly shallow in others, especially on the south west side of the the bridge . Navionics is pretty much on the money with where the deep water is on the river and the depth is about right. I have used Navionics to navigate from the bridge to Nelligen and back and was pretty spot on. The bar height is sketchy though as advertised low is .9 but I have heard it is now .7 though have not verified. The northern boat ramp is closed for the the construction of the new bridge though a new one is currently being built on the noreastern shore andlooms about a month away.
If you or anyone wants a free mooring on the ocean side of the Clyde, near the bridge, contact me as they STILL haven't lifted my old one and I'd like to give it away. I've pm'd you TH2, but thought I should see if anyone else is interested.
