The XTM40 37 litre is on special for $499 RRP $799
Do you think this is good buying?
Yeah, that's the same price that Aldi were selling theirs for.
Be aware that they benefit greatly from some additional insulation shoved inside the supplied cover. I used a foam bedding underlay about 8 mm thick and cut it into panels that fit inside the cover. I have only used mine as a freezer.
Seems like a very good deal if it is a compressor system.
Hello Pete, welcome to Seabreeze.

Thanks Bob, seems a lot friendlier here that that other mob! ![]()
anyone know what the power draw is? it's ridiculous that they don't list this in the tech specs.
we just ripped an Aldi-sourced fridge/freezer from our boat as the power draw was just unsustainable without adding a third battery and more solar.
I couldn't find a draw rating either. But all of the cheaper brands I've ever dealt with are substantially more then Waco's and Engels. But I guess you get what you pay for.
If you have the battery capacity and or solar, then at the listed price it would be worth a shot.
Personally, I'd pay the extra $100 and get a 40l Waeco from Anaconda... at least your getting a known brand???
Though 40l isn't really big enough... 50-60l is a good starting point IMO.
i was shopping for a new fridge recently, Evakool was my preference for size/performance/quality/price, almost went a KickAss from Evakool rebadged...then I fixed (sort of) my current Waeco, and now not a priority.
Check out the compressor, I bought a companion brand from BCF was told it had a danfoss compressor turned out to a danstar ! Anyway it clapped out a month before warranty expired the replacement had the danfoss job and the warranty started again, so I ended up all good.

Hi, the 40l aldi sourced unit that I have showed a marked improvement with the additional insulation, and when you see them side by side they are pretty much out of the same factory, use the same BD35 compressor etc. The Engel brand with the swing compressor is a better performer, I believe.
I'd save the $200 and get a cheapy from eBay, my 45 lt Glacio was about $305, if you wait for a 20% off special, I estimated it used about 36amps per 24hours, in QLD temps. Quiet as, can barely hear it, have to put my head next to it, to hear if it's running, shows temperature on the front, very happy with it, only problem is of course if it breaks down, it's a hassle to return and get replacement or refund.

I eventually bought a 18 litre fridge/freezer a 'Spector' for $286 through My Deal on the internet.
I tested at home and it went to minus 19 degrees quickly. I put half a glass of water in and no trouble making ice.
Its the size I need and around ten kilos in weight.
