I decided to go back to living aboard but thought that the Ranger 33 was just a little too small for a geriatric, so I have bought this Cabot 36

Should be good to go for the Sail Malaysia Rally starting from Langkawi in early April and finishing in east Borneo in August. Then the return to OZ rally to get back at the end of the year.

Sorry to have to put the Ranger on the market, she is a great boat to sail.

Congratulations. Looks like you have found a very nice yacht ! And you have a plan for cruising her ! Good on you !
I have always liked yachts designed and built for waters near Canada.
Well done !!

Awesome looks by boat. Can't imagine 1.5l per hour pushing nearly 12 ton is accurate, more like 2.5l but whatever.
Did the previous owners tell you how much the marina berth costs per non he there? Just interested as I'll be up that way in a year or two.
Have fun

Yes, I agree that 2.5 looks more likely and even a bit more for a 4 cylinder Yanmar. The marina in Rebak is 5 star and costs $180 per week for a 36 ft. pretty much the same as in oz except that you get to use all the resort facilities. I know there are cheaper spots in Langkawi. Got this from the owner.
You will enjoy Jalan Jalan and the marina at Rebak. There are a bunch of people who had done some serious sailing. Mr. Dinh hires cars at MR 50 ringitt per day, there is a small restaurant for yachties and a laarger one at the Taj resort.

Thanks for that, sounds like a pretty sweet place to be based.

Well done PhoenixStar. Nice boat and a nice plan.

I have been looking hard at Langkawi, Rebak and further south Pangkor Islands as places to go live for half of each year.

If you want someone to boat sit for you, let me know.

Thanks cisco, but so far the plan is to slowly head back to oz using the rally - mainly to get navy protection for the last leg down the east of Borneo. Starting to feel like a big bite, hope I can chew it.
