Hi,
I am looking at buying a 28 foot yacht to use in Moreton Bay. We have found a good boat at a good price. The clincher is ongoing costs for mooring.
From what I understand there is a considerable waiting list for a bouy mooring and Marina berths are quite expensive.
I read that you can anchor in permitted areas for up to 14 days.
Is it legal/safe/deemed reasonable, to move you boat to a new anchorage every 14 days while waiting for a bouy mooring to become available?
Hi welcome to the forum. Have you tried cabbage tree creek or Caboolture river? Couple of years ago there were spot available straight away. Also im sure there will be anchorage that you can leave your boat a lot longer then 14 days. For example the duck pond at Mooloolaba your allowed to anchor there for ever as long as its registered
A yacht l sail on on occasions is bow and stern anchored in one of the muddy rivers in Moreton Bay for the last 20 years. He never ever been bothered by anyone about it.
Just the way it should be! ![]()
