I recently got a 1990 model boat and while most of the major items have been very well looked after there is a multitude of minor maintenance issues that have been left to deteriorate... just a heap of small jobs that will require a long period of TLC to rectify.
Anyway! At the moment I've been turning my attention to some of the metal surfaces and there appears to be surface corrosion on the underside of the aluminium frame of the windshield. Has anyone here had experience dealing with this type of corrosion? It almost looked like mould at first glance, but it's small bumps of corrosion. Don't think a simple polish would do it and whatever I do will probably need to be by hand without power tools. (Some of the areas are difficult to get a tool into, maybe an inch or two of clearance but also I'd like to be able to do it while out at anchor and not run my batteries flat.)
any tips would be greatly appreciated!

The bumps aren't the problem 
, it's the pits under them. I had one hatch that try as hard as I could I couldn't get rid of them then I realised, a new hatch, and move on. 
That's not corrosion it's electrolysis. First thing is find the cause and stop it.
