Sweet :)
dont let my woman see this
My girlfriend watched it and now doesn't want to come on my tassie trip I'm planning :/ . Other movies that didn't help were 'Life of pi' and 'kon-tiki'. It's funny because watching these sailing adventure movies makes me want to go out on my boat.
lol
My gf watched "Solo: Lost At Sea" about that aussie guy who died trying to cross the tasman on a kayak and wouldnt go on the boat for over a month lol.
Everytime i went out she cried and begged me not to go. :P
That's so sweet Stony, after my wife watched 'Solo' the insurance was updated and Id find holes drilled in my hull.
it is on torrent already, I did not download it as it is illegal!![]()
DVD rip or the version where you have to look over the silhouettes of people walking into the cinema?

Now how would he possibly know that,
he did say it was illegal to download it ![]()
What absolute crap. This film should be howled down in hoots of laughter.
Who sleeps in the for'd cabin at sea? Who sleeps for more than 20 minutes when alone at sea? Who would allow the hatch over the nav table to stay open at sea? who would not be able to repair a hole above the waterline in flat calm sea? Who would climb a mast shackled tro the bosuns chair? Whowould head to sea not knowing how to broadcast a May DaY cal? l WTF is an SOS call and who makes one of those on a VHF radio on channel 88 particularly with the radio sitting on deck. Who abandons a floating vessel? If your sailing partner is frightened by this film then obviously they bhave absolutely no concept of sailing and are not ready anyway.

It is only a Hollywood movie, I'd take it for what it is. Maybe the storm happened before the epoxy set? Isn't 88 the distress calling channel on 27MHz radios? At the end of the day you can over-analyze any movie...the monkeys didn't look real in planet of the apes.
We watched this movie yesterday.
Frant, you spot on..
My wife had no clue about sailing, even she laughed.
Let your wife's see it and guide them through with comment .
Just a movie ...how .....not to do it.
There has been some discussion on the English PBO Forum about this movie and some liked it and some didn't but I will watch it as there aren't a lot of sailing movies around
Regards Don
I liked parts of it, but I thought the storm scenes were very budget.
Made me think, how do you film such a thing unless you do it all in a computer.
Best sailing movie ever, The Lucky Lady starring Gene Hackman, Burt Reynolds, Liza Minelli and a magnificent San Francisco Bay J boat called either Baruda or Orient.
The morphing of those two names became Barient as in Barient Winches.
Enjoy the movie.![]()
Just watched All Is Lost. Wow, how disappointing! Endless sailing errors and just errors of physics (you can't sink with a lung full of air, for example). Massive inconsistencies scattered throughout. I could tolerate these if there was any emotion in the acting or a plot / action that kept you interested. Compare Tom Hanks in Castaway; another universe.
I suppose it was worth watching so that my wife and I could discuss / agree on all the things he did wrong. He did a few things right but I lost all sympathy for him after that port tack in the first five minutes. ![]()
Where did you watch it? I never seen it advertised at the local cinema and can't see it on iTunes. I can't understand why they go to the expensive of making such a movie and not make it realistic I have been waiting many years for a real ocean block buster just seems they don't have the audience and the experience.
So has anybody watched "The Lucky Lady" yet???
You will be surprised and your funny bone tickled if you do.
I'm working on it Cisco! I have just discovered scooby 1961 I have 300 or so of his utube vids to watch first! Haha
Here is a REAL sailing movie to watch and it is worth the $4 they are asking to watch it.

A friend told me it fell off the back of a truck. I don't know what they were talking about but they said it fell off somewhere around this corner of the internet superhighway: www.bts.to
No one "kicked" the cat Cisco, I just found it a tad amusing that a movie that had not been released on either VHS or DVD got your tick of approval as the best sailing movie ever, However I do agree with you about sailing movies being few and far between. The other info I posted regarding the boat was merely for historical interest and was taken from other sources on the net, not my words.
All is lost....my suggestion, use it as a training chapter for offshore master ticket
I like ....Sea will tell,
also......The four from Moana...
