Hi all

We went up to Hobart today to put the J24 in the water ready for its trip down to Port Huon

It has a outboard lifting bracket on the back but i could not get it to release to lift up www.whitworths.com.au/o-b-bkt-al-15hp-36kg

I tried to lift the motor to release the locking handle but nothing would move and at home now and looking a a photo of the bracket I am wondering if i should have been pushing down on the motor against the lifting spring pressure to release it

Has anyone used this type of bracket and if so can you tell me what I was doing wrong

Regards Don

Look at the locking slot and you will see which surface is in contact. If it is a light motor you will indeed need to push down to get the locking handle to release.

Hi Yara

Thanks for that

It seems obvious now but at the time we were doing all we could to lift the motor to release the lever and it didn't occur to me at the time that the lifting springs were already doing that and we needed to push it down

Hi Don
Better to ask than never know as there are no really stupid questions

Except for this.

"Do I need to push or pull that rope?"

ps did you find a name for the J ?
