Hey All,

I'm after some advice. I'm considering buying a 125 class, which I have always adored. The one I'm looking at doesn't come with a trailer. I do have a big twin cab 4wd ute with roof racks and also ladder racks in the back. I'm always covering it with kayaks. Do you think I would be able to manage it on the rooftop, or am I dreaming? Has anyone done it?

They are similar in size and weight to a Laser, so no real issue. I'm fairly sure that some of my old club's 125s were car-topped.

Hi Matrix,
We made a roof rack years ago for a Rainbow for our trusty old Kingswood wagon using steel poles, like tent poles. The arms holding the dinghy slid out to the side of the car and then pivoted to sit on the ground, so the dinghy sat at 45 degrees so to speak. Lift off the dinghy and off you go. It worked like a charm for a few dinghys over the following years

That's a great idea. Thanks

They mount up great on a cheap 7x4 trailer. they might ony weigh 50kg, but better on the trailer than the roof!
