Had a really good experience with Selden equipment. On my newly purchased 2004 yacht I recently discovered a recall for a defective forestay fitting on the mast issued in 2011. Initially thought the PO would of sorted it out, particularly as the yacht crossed the pacific after this date. But sure enough, the defective fitting was still fitted to the mast. So my rigger contacted Selden Australia and not only did they supply the part for free, they also paid for the 5 hours labour for the rigger to replace the fitting. Really nice to find a supplier that stands behind their product. + 1 for Selden.

Not sure what type of a recall it was but when I worked at Toyota dealers there were safety recalls where I guess there was risk of death or a serious injury that had a whole lot of government regulations attached to them and the manufacturer had try to contact owners and have the work carried out and as far as I know did not have a end date and also Customer Satisfaction Exercises where Toyota had become aware of a issue with a vehicle, developed a fix and had a campaign with a defined end date where they would carry out the fix under warranty on vehicles that were out of warranty

I assume that the potential consequence of the failure determines the guidelines for the fix and whether the government becomes involved
