There would be a lot more interest if you offered the
yellow thing hiding in the shed as an escort vehicle
stephen
off topic but, that shed is my welders, its an Alladins cave, you see the yellow watsy for somedays but not the cherry red for everyday, the club house, and a family of juke boxes. i,ll ask if he would mind posting a photo or too here, but take warning, youll be jelouse.....
time marches on, seasons greetings to all, good building and sailing..
working flat out, prepping everything needed for next years attempt, fairly big job, good thing i started so far out.
most ideas are off paper into production, hopefully have a rolling test vehicle by end of febuary, photos should start then.
my crowd funding venture is slow, hope it picks up. It will become very hard! but not imposssible, more challenging.
Biggest problem is finding someone who would wish to do the venture with me, didnt realise how free i am, to act independant
of social restraints. So if you hear of someone similar tell them to get in touch.
In the spirit of the worlds fastest indian, i feel there is a great chance of succeeding . Free barra, n, gulf prawns @ BURKETOWN... reward! ??
at it big time, but mainstream business, still in slumberland and causing some consternation. Never fear it will all work its way along the time line. My budget dosent cater for big dollar outlay, just small and steady spending, thats OK will get there. nothing real to photograph as yet, that will happen soon too, hard, aint it hard , hard, hard, but not impossible..?...?. cheers... gibba
still plodding along, crowd sourcing was a complete waste.
Wont get going this year, the best i can hope for is to have rebuild finished and possibly tested by years end. That will be a positive step in a good direction.
Am working out of The Willos Mens Shed, Gawler. a happy , diverse mob of aussies.
So attempt on back burner for 2016, but 2017, well, that will be the answer I recon !
easter again, just makes one older. The Brass Band (australian championships) is on in Gawler this weekend, so i went an watched the parade this am. Tons of talent on show with local and imported interpretations. Goldfields bought their version of a gold rush, turned the local kids into diggers. Found TP1 and had some yackety yak, will go and watch them tomorrow in their grade "C" quest for fame.
Another event comming up here is SA soon is The Lost Stories Of Henry Hoke, on the saturday 28th may at the Terowie Institute, gold coin donation gets one in, for a review of Australia's Greatest Unknown Inventor, so come and enjoy the fine art of pure Bulldust ! Its being bought to you by The Institute of Backyard Studies, see facebook or email mark@ibys.org I located one of henrys tools, you may have one too, come and tell your story.
On the landyacht front, slow but forward progress is being achieved, a photo could be called for, very soon, drive safe, play it cool...?.
here'
s
the heads up for Henry Hoke gig, plus one of his lost tools for all you home shed blokes who use such parrafunalia!
........ so what do you think it be ?
Well made the big 70 yesterday......... hey it's not too bad !..
and that my friends deserved another cake, - ginger, banana, carrot, n, rum and cupachino..
having some problems configuring front wheel steering.
basicaly two front wheels to steer with foot operated bar/bars from sitting position
cant seem to get away from crossed rods.?.........any ideas please. can only find steering wheel type on i.t.
Most steering arms (when viewed from above and carrying it's designed weight/load ) should be angled back to the centre of the rear axle.
So that an imaginary line is drawn through the centre of the king pin, (at axle height) and then back to the centre of the rear axle. This line should intersect the centre of the tie-rod ends vertical shaft on the back of the steering arm.
The reason for this is the inside wheel in a turn is required to scribe a much tighter circle than the outside wheel. This geometry enables both wheels to roll around at the correct radius without a tyre scrubbing or hopping.
Your inclined kingpins will also help this too, but are more suited to a close coupled setup like a short wheel based quad bike. Not so much kingpin angle is required for your length, but not so critical for your requirements and lower speeds. Just that your wheels will lay over a lot when turning sharply.
A lawn mower for example has the steering arms setup above (almost parallel) to the axle and simply reverses the turning action with a pressed steel "rack and pinion" setup to reverse it. The radius of this rack allows for the required for and aft moment to steer correctly. Their design is pretty rough though, but suits low speed applications.
thanks chook, so on the sketch i have added a greenline along how i interperate your advice. am i on the right track?
Left hand is drawn better. This is not meant tò
be absolutely fast or steered agressively but a good speed in a straight line
That is spot on Joe.
If you heat the arm and bend it at the axle attachment point it will be even stronger. (without the right angle tab at the end trying to twist it)
I think a bell-crank system may be needed like this. (BUT only if you cant get you head round an aircraft rudder steering system, push right and go right......... like "landyacht" failed at
, while piloting my yacht).
thanks cook, working at it.?.........can't believe the yacht made a mistake, must be a outback myth ?
