Just wondered how some of the mini yachts are getting past scrutineering with 16" bike wheels when the rule specifically states the wheel size must be maximum 400 x 8. i.e wheel barrow wheel.
The wheels you refer too are actually smaller than the maximum permitted . Provided it is not bigger, it's ok . I have checked some of them including the one in your photo - or it's brother.
Build a box around a 4.00/4.80'x 8 inflated wheel and tyre - anything that fits inside this box is not bigger than the maximum.... Simple !
OK , just checking my mini is still within the rule.
Clemco,
That is one cool mini. Way cooler than the black one in the first picture. Looks like a bit of a nut cruncher though!
Yes it is. Mast needs to go way forward just in front of the seat like others have found. May do it some day.
Don't sail it much myself. Would rather sail the Class 5 any day. Minis are for the kids and overweight old men.![]()

And people who can't afford a "class 5" or the vehicle/trailer to carry them.I could carry my "LLM" in my little 2door hatchback, 2 piece mast included.![]()

The photo is presenting an optical illusion then????
Hi Cisco. I use the same wheel on the front of my mini and it is smaller in overall dia. that the wheel barrow wheel.
Except for the using of windsurfer sails on the mini the difficulty and cost is not a lot of differences between the two classes (I am referring to home builds)
Transportation is another issue but most people have a garden trailer
