I was trying to find these to point a young fella in the right direction. Thank you Gizmo for keeping them on the boil for us.

Here is the link to the plans.

The original post by Landyacht seems to have disappeared with all his photos. Here are some updates that Stephen (sn) suggested and I totally agree with them as follows.

Not shown in the plans as these improvements were developed at a later date :
: mast step can be vertical [instead of the 10 degree rearwards lean] - this has proven to work very well with unmodified windsurfer sails.

: weld a plate over the rear of the chassis spine tube - then the tube is less liable to tear at the axle tube welds due to twisting.

: run a steel strap (flat bar 25mm x 3mm as shown in the pic below) down one side of the mast-step, underneath the chassis spine, and back up the other side of the mast-step. Stitch weld this strap to the mast-step and chassis spine, not a continuous weld. This will prevent the mast step welds from fatiguing and tearing apart due to stress.

Cheers Chook

Hey Nikrum, long time no see! I was just down in your part of the world in March, checking out Peggs Beach east of Stanley. Looked very good when I was there, however no landyacht this time as I was working on a site in Burnie. Hopefully next time!!!

I just wanted to say thank you for the LLmini plans. Finished my first this winter and built another modified for me. I have learned so much from these posts. I still have so much to learn but truly enjoy the process. thanks again

Pics please! What sail/mast combination did you end up with?

While browsing for info on the LLFM plans I came across an old article (2008) by Landyacht detailing the build, with pix, of the steps. Unfortunately the article did not actually reproduce the pictures properly..just icons where they should have been.

Is there anyway this article could be re printed and maybe "stickied" so that it could be available along with the actual plans. It would help those who, like me, are visual builders and dont have easy access to a pre built landyacht for guidance.

Do you all run a seat belt with this land sailer?

It is advisable to keep all body parts within the body of the yacht so a seat belt is part of that and good shoes, gloves and a helmet.
