Hi, I'm new to kitesurfing and I would like to have some tips about gear.
I have done a little bit of the actually kite flying and I want to start kitesurfing in WA.

I do have a 2008 12m Griffin kite left in Europe.

I never really got into it as it was too big for me and it dragged me around the beach at the time I was only 65kg...

So now it's 3 years later and I'm in WA.

I want to know what gear would suit me the best for Perth winds.

I'm 92kg, 187cm and a newbie.

Can someone tell me how strong is "Freo Doctor" and what kite would be best for me there?

Plonk,

it's best for you to focus on getting a few lessons first, then think about the gear. During your lessons you will have plenty of time to discuss gear options and sizes with your instructor.

Most Seabreeze days in Perth range between 20 and 25 knots, sometimes more. A 12m kite for a 90kg guy would well powered in 18-20 knots but overpowered and dangerous in 25 knots or more, so probably not the best size option for a single kite quiver.

Also a 2008 kite is a bit old and lots have changed since then (kite design and safety systems) and it could be very different from what you use during the lessons. Probably best to leave the 12m behind and get something newer here in 10 or 11m size.

hope this helps.

I definitely will get some lessons before I start again, just wanted to know should I get someone to ship the kite to Aus.

Thanks for the info Christian!
