Hey! We're heading from geraldton down to port Denison this we and were wondering if and where there are any good flat water spots around the area. We only have a 2wd though...
Cheers

Depends how flat,
Not in marina in a swest
Winds too sketchy
Park up at south beach next to my cafe
Pump your gear up on the grass next to the cafe
Launch and head north towards house on headland
This brings you into the lagoon
Great flat water spot
From butter flat against the reef to mildly choppy,
Tack back in the direction you came keeping an eye on the reef depth
Wash your gear at taps provided, grab a shower
Then imho grab the best coffee around

Watch these northerners (And I don't mean Aussie ones) , Make sure you get the right change....

yeh that flat section is pretty special, wind screams around a headland. Just make sure you have your **** together (you ain't a fckn kook) cause that reef underneath is sharp as fck.

anyhow the beach itself is pretty special, some nice flat sections in the shallows.

ps if you appreciate good coffee, make sure you drop in there. Unreal. helps wash down the bacon and egg sandwich...mmmmm m

Eppo at said spot, as you can see it flattens off in sections , if he hadn't made the trick he'd win the local patchwork comp with his feet

Another great spot 10klms before Dongara is 7 mile beach, not as flat especially in strong winds but you can find some nice sections straight out,
2wd friendly

Then come grab a coffee

Ah it depends on tide I reckon. I came in way to hot after a powered loop the other day we were up there, landed on my bum to protect my dinosaur knees and ankles and I didn't hit the bottom.

its worth checking out, just don't fck up, ride conservatively. That wind screams around that headland...as the water flattens out.

Jumps 5 knots just as you hit the real flat section, perfect for boosting. Love it.

and if the swell is up, sneak through the reef for some waves action.

But yeh it's a loooong swim if you mess up.

I can vouch for the hard work required (own cafe vic park)
But if you can get the mix right the rewards are there. Contrary to popular belief it's not easy and just coffee and cake. . . I envy the lifestyle. . . . One day

I'll have to drop in one day when I venture to exmouth kiting. . . . .

Not wrong, not quite the lifestyle I had planned
Flat stick but carnt complain, looking to add a compressor , so visiting kiters can pump up foc, also happy to help fix you up with repair products also foc to keep you kiting on your travels, some good reads whilst waiting for the breeze to fill in

Operah ( wind) frey is my fave

Also found a great use for the north kites strutt clips

It's called the starfish cafe, its located south beach dongora...where the kiting takes place.

No sh1t, the setup (grassed areas) and launch is right next to it...you could order a coffee, setup kite, tether it, then grab your ordered coffee and drink it whilst contemplating the 25-30 knot daily winds (on a bad day)...

We said stick the word 'chocolate' in front of the name. The lads and I like to give helpful suggestion like that....

...plus there is nothing better than watching Mick in an apron trying to be nice to everyone. Oh fck me that is the best bit!!!
