Hello Kite surfers and other beach users.

A bit of a heads up.

Currently the city of Wanneroo is doing up their beach management plan to address access to their coastal area as the houses are rapidly moving up that way.

They are in the planning stage for putting in surf club, dog beaches, and other uses. This City is very pro sports from what we can see which is good.

So the time is now to get a place allocated for your sport before the houses move in and we are left to negotiate the areas no one wants.

This is 2-5 year plan but the city is looking at allocating land and putting in the facilities like roads and car parks to accommodate our sports if we get in now.

The more non conflicting sports we can get in at the ground level now the bigger the area they can allocate to us, like parking and other facilities.

If you are interested can a representative of your sport please get in contact with myself so we can include you.

Thanks

Hi WildOne,

best off talking to Waksa, I think Tim is the contact and sure he'll see this. Mullaloo (joondalup council) had some issues a while back and Waksa did a lot of proactive work in creating a co-operative interface with the public.

For my two cents though, exclusion zones work a lot better than a dedicated area. I think you'll find most other surfclubs have an exclusion zone heading out into the water surrounding the clubs swimming areas.

Nick.
