Has anyone been on a Zephyr Kite Tour to Cocos Islands? Or something similar that you would recommend?
Looking to get away for a week or two in Winter to find some wind and good weather.
Just want to know whether something like this is worth it as it is a fair bit of coin to splash out.
Michael,
Cocos is definitely worth checking out. I spent 3 weeks there last year with Zephyr and had a great time!!!! ![]()
Hey Michael. I'm going to head to PNG this winter for at least a week. Intheloop kiteboarding do a boat charter trip (same as Land of Lahara) for a week for $2k. Airfare from Cairns to port Moresby is only like $400 return.
I'm going to fly to Cairns on points. Coco's in on my list too but it'll have to wait I think.
I'll be back next week so I can fill you in. Preferebly after a long session if the bloody wind stops arsing about.
What's all included in these packages? Like Mike said its a lot of coin if all it is accomm and novelty. Do u get any lessons included or anything?
I'm looking for flat water, some experience (and shallow water so you don't ** yourself everytime you hit the drink
). something like Shark Bay in January...sigh
all inclusive with flights would be a bonus.

Some are priced with flights like Coco's with Zephyr for lke $3100 for a week. Seems like a good deal. Better than some bunk trip to Bali any day.
Intheloop PNG trip includes boat charter/food transfers (appx $2k/week). Flights from Cairns to Moresby are like $400 return give or take.
I'm going to do a trip in July/Aug with intheloop. I just watched Land of Lahara so I've got a raging kite boner. The boat charter seems like an awesome way to cover like a donzen wicked beaches and see a lot of culture in a short time. Just hanging out with a bunch of kiters and doing nothing but chill and kite will be just the thing come winter.
and earlier.
Season opener "exmouth expo" on there again this year about then.
Try a pm to turtlehunter.
Hey Amras the wind turns to sw usually starting late august but before then the trade se winds are just as strong and almost as consistent. The only thing is we are a bit slack up here and kiting cold trade winds in the morning just doesn't stack up to the steading arvo seabreeze.
On the plus side though you are kiting right in town. Should be a few crew down there this year with the local kiters starting up a racing series this winter down at the yacht club similar to what AKS ran this year using two airush monaro boards.
call in and see us if your in town for some local info at Ningaloo Kite & Board or even check out our website. There is a link under the Exmouth weather on seabreeze![]()
There are a couple spots left for the 10 days Trobraids PNG trip July28-6Aug with Intheloop. I'm not affiliated or anything, I'm just going. Shoot me a PM if you want details. Cost is appx $2500 for a 10 day boat charter with food provided.
This is going to be a sick trip.
If you can leave it untill August then you might get a few sessions on the west coast after a morning kite in town.
