I'm visiting my hometown for the holidays. I used to go out at "North Scarborough" - (the northern most point of the carparks). Was a good spot last year. And always some peeps there to chat and kite with, and to help each other out. Doesn't seem to be many or any kiters down that way when I swing by lately. Sharks scared 'em away? ;-)
There's been a few crew kiting there over Chrissy / New Year, (we've been doing down-winders past that spot a fair bit) but on the whole, the perth beachies were blissfully quiet this silly season - all the kiting hoardes headed south or north I guess. Felt as empty as it was 5 years ago.

sure does.
I have been kiting that spot fairly often and have to agree with you. It seems the open ocean has scared many people away. I think it people can see the bottom they feel more secure. Do you think a shark could attack you from the bottom like a seal???
Down winders are so much more fun.More waves ,more fun, more space.Lots of sections with no one using the beach space. If I don't have the time for a downwinder I go to Brighton.I think the car park there is less prone to car break ins !
