I kited about 2k south of there(i could see it and know where its is) over the new year period, not being a wave person and lazy didn't go up to it.
Kited 4-5 times over 8 days and saw one other kite there(peak period of the year), so pretty isolated, a mate would be good if your not comfy self launching/landing.

From what i saw(edit ran up there one day), not to much to report, massive long beach, no real probs on SW, lots of room for error but not sure about any reef, good luck, i would be interested to know how ya go for next time i am up that way.

KITEABLE YES.
watch out for the locals, they are fierce. they are there a lot, including windy.
abide by rules and you could be ok, but still prepare for banter.

hi cocos

in case you aren't from a surfing background, the spot is a break that can handle a bit of a southerly wind, and even south westerly to a degree depending on the swell, tide etc. for this reason, if there is even a sniff of swell around there will usually be quite a few guys out paddle surfing.

on the kite, depending on time of year the inside shelf can get pretty shallow and take your fins off, but otherwise it is a fun wave, fairly fat compared to beachies, with a couple of different sections that can be played around on or you can get a couple of reos into.

personally, if there are guys paddling, i just do a couple of runs through, not taking sets etc, and gauge the vibe and viability of kiting the main wave - but generally i won't go there if the surfers are getting good ones. this is how i would want it if i was surfing too. also, if on a wave from deep or way outside, expect to be faded by a surfer in position once it hits the inside. BUT, you can get it uncrowded occasionally if wind is nuking, and you can also head to the beach break part a bit further north (ie just 50m on the otherside of channel) ,and depending on banks can get some pretty good A frames through there on the kite since you can get in so early. imo much more fun and stress free if there is a crowd on the main break.

in summary, take care, be courteous and enjoy - if in doubt, stick to the beachie area a bit more north.
cheers

I consider this place my local surf spot. And Im not dumb enough to kite there with other surfers and I know some of the 2 rocks board riders club! If you do get in the way of the surfers/locals I would be watching your car! There are always people out there unless its a dirty onshore swell. Heaps of shallow reef and a few nuggets on the 'beach break' to watch out for. Ill see you there, also what car do you drive? :)

Plenty of half decent, non reefy beach break south of there mate and you can avoid the oxygen stealer s(agro locals, i am sure some of them are cool but hey surfing/kite surfing dont mix anyway).

The locals are hanging on to try and keep it theirs. The reality is there are thousands of housing developments, and a sign showing how to get there. On the weekends there are heaps of kooks, surfers from overseas and the remaining local meat heads. Add a few kites to the mix for good measure I say.

why would you not try and hang on? This would mean resisting every and any invasion on the break.
Im not being smart, I really want to know what you mean.

I can't understand why there are so many locals only surf comps at the spot?
With a very heavy exclusivity on the break.
It seems like every time there is swell there happens to be a club contest on ?
Just curious

It funny how kiters always say hi and are very welcoming etc when you compare surfers.Probly cause we know there may be a point when we are relying on our fellow kiters for a hand.
Last time i surfed there I was dropped in on more then once as i was surfing alone and there was a group of guys together.
Personally I dont believe anyone has more right then the next to claim a break or beach.
Should organise a big kiters meet up one arvo when there is good wind :)

Localism is a good thing as long as it's not pushed too far. It keeps people honest and following the rules, which is more than can be said about Perth!

Leave them alone and ride elsewhere, most kiters spoil waves compared with surfers.
