So today at the Pond (11/01/26) another kiter who thought he owned it was shouting at me as I was traveling downwind through the channel (towards ocean) but on the starboard side. However, he thought it was a good idea to repeatedly stop in the middle of the channel to set up for some jumps traveling upwind towards the pond from the shallow part of the channel opening. He seemed upset that I traveled past him on the ocean side of the channel as I didn't want to get to close to the shore downwind. I understand the sailing rules and usual etiquette of The Pond, but I would assume because he repeatedly stopped in the shallow channel opening he immediately loses right of way in this situation as he is creating the hazard. Am I wrong or right to think this? Appreciate any feedback.
