I'm a novice but I had enough confidence to have a go at Pinnaroo today and it was the first time I'd been there (had great fun). However later in the afternoon I saw a poor guy being dragged a long way down wind with his Airush kite spiralling endlessly until he finally released it. Another kiter was with him the whole way having seen his difficulties and he managed to tow the guy back into shore. The second guy then went off and retrieved the guy's kite and dragged that into shore too.
I'm very new to the sport so I don't know if this is a common thing at Pinnaroo (or other places), but I was very impressed with this rescue and the general spirit of camaraderie on the beach with people looking out for each other. I've come into the sport without knowing anyone else who does it, so this sort of thing is great to see.

There are some wicked people at Pinna. Been there for a year and been helped so much. Sometimes I even go down when I don't feel like kiting to hang out with the lovely people.
Shame the same couldn't be said for some of the euros who "own" the beach there on a weekend. We all have to show respect for people starting off where we all once did and work with them not put them off coming back again. Had to bite my tongue on Saturday.......
Snarky if the euros aren't playing by the rules you have to say say something. Happened on sunday, euros getting too close to learners, and swimming in the middle of the of the learners. Not to imply that the locals own the beach but a couple of us advised them that perhaps passing within 2 or 3 metres of the learners was not a good idea and also there were better places to swim. They are visitors so let's fill them in on the local rules. If you want to change their behaviours you need to get involved.
Just come back from Denmark, WA. On the river mouth lookout you can see a nice aluminium plate with the local rules engraved into with black paint.
Clear, visible and easy read even for non-native English readers like myself. How is that for a start? I don't know of anything similar anywhere around Perth...
On the same note, I was really really impressed with Denmark inlet and the river mouth!
