Hi I have truly no idea where to start with kite surfing.
I have done some research and wanted to find out what the best training kite is at the moment.

Also I found this kite set avail second hand

Kite Surfer Kit good for Beginner Kite Airush Lift 9.4m (13m) Model 2002,Kite Naish Aero 10m Model 2003,Airush Board Switch 169 Model 2003,Pat Love Waist Harness Wire,Pumps, Lines and Bar all in Travelbag.

Im 55kg and Im not sure if this will be ok for me?

Also if anyone can suggest a reputable company to do lessons with.

Thanks Row

are you kidding? do not buy that gear! you will seriously hurt yourself. that stuff would have been useful 5 years ago. new equipment is so much better to learn on. depending on where you live, try aks( australian kitesurfing school) based at pinneroo point hillarys. can get package with kite, board, harness and lessons

Hey Row,

Why don't you head down and speak to some kiters at Pinnaroo point? Also you can hit up Darren Marshall from AKS (Australian Kiteboarding School) for advice on lessons and gear. Ask around, his rep speaks for itself.

Common sense says that you need to get your estimated budget together, get some lessons and then get squared away with safety. Included in this is body dragging up and down wind to get your board back, set up correctly, launch and land your kite and importantly keeping in mind safey of yourself and others. Right of way rules also.
As for the 'package' selection you are looking at ... 13m is a light wind kite (especially for a 55kg person) Take into consideration where your gonna kite and if it's Perth my advice would be an 7, 8 or 9 for a 55kgs person. I'm 66kgs and will ride an 8m this season as a 1 kite option.

using a 13 mtr kite at 55kgs in perth = you getting slammed and dragged into the beach. It's too big and something that you might use on the east coast in 12-16knots. Perth wind in summer is 22-30knots consistent. Using a 13 in this type of wind will = death for you and also others.

1st off try some harnesses. Which type depends on your body. Everyone is different and some that work for others wont always work for you. I ride mystics because they fit well and do the job. Some people like pat loves, Ions, dakine whatever. Try some on, you will know which one fits after you try a few different brands. It's like buying a good pair of shoes. You will know when you have the right one. This is the first thing I would buy as you will have it for a few years. Buying correct 1st time saves you buying again 6 months later. Dont buy a second hand cheap and nasty harness. Invest the money in a good harness that fits right and your comfort wont be compromised. If your in the area when the wind is on then gimme a shout and I'll have a chat to you. Come down meet a few people and see if it's something you want to do. Once you get a taste of kiting you will get hooked. Guaranteed.

Hope this info helps and welcome to the Seabreeze forum/kiting.

There are lots of schools listed on seabreeze
Also Sean is a great instructor
His contact is 0420 816 472

Have lessons first, then look for gear
Rule of thumb IMO is no older than 2 years old for a kite.
Better safety systems, better depower, easier to progress.

Demo different types of kites till you find one that suits.
A few girl I kite with around your weight are on 8m kites for most of the season
