Do you mean Pelican Point?

I have never seen anyone kite at Matilda Bay.

If you do mean Pelican Point.. don't learn there! It is not suitable for beginners and beginner mistakes at this location can result in the place getting banned. Pelican point is more for intermediate - advanced riders who have no problem staying upwind.

The wind is onshore and you will most certainly get carried downwind while learning. In this location, getting carried downwind means being pulled towards the bushes, rocks and trees.

You are probably better off learning at Melville Waters or Point Walter which have cross onshore winds, allowing you to get pulled downwind but still be able to get to the beach if you come into any trouble
