Hi guys and girls,

am looking for people who would want to join me (or I am joining them) for local kite surf trips. I am 57 years old (fairly fit and strong) and am riding since a bit over a year. I can ride the board in any direction (the possible ones of course) safely and my turns work 8 out of 10 times :).
I fly a 12m kite (and love it) and am not seeking the high winds and high waves at this stage. I am confident even with the big kite in higher winds even over 20 knots. I like cruising (not jumps, tricks etc).
My ambition is surf riding eventually once I have a bit more experience, kite and board skills and may even have fun to fly a smaller kite (I also flew a 9m for a while, but just like the 12 so much more for what I am doing).
I like going distances along the beach if the conditions are right, but also enjoy just to be on the water. I am not yet confident to have a go at places where I have not been before all by myself and am seeking company not free lessons :).
I can make time any time any day, since I am semi retired and am interested to go to different places including Lancellin, Wedge Island, Jurien Bay, Cervantes or just local to Perth (Pinnaroo Point, Leighton Beach or even the river is of interest).
If you feel that you also appreciate company at times when no one else is on the water or you need a little help too at times then by all means contact me.
Age or gender does not matter to me, I only think that it would be good to have a similar level of experience otherwise one or the other might get bored. I am interested to pretty much go all year round if the conditions are right.
Thanks for reading

Hi,

Sounds like we are in a similar position. I am around your age and am not working just now. I am fairly confident with the wave riding so not a beginner and have got well past using a twin tip board, but I have an ambition to find new spots and travel out of town when the forecast looks favourable up north or down south I have some ideas of places to try.

thanks for the answer.
If you are willing "to put up with me", being less experienced I am happy to get in contact. Maybe we have a beer someplace and a chat about our interests.
Hey everyone, this does not mean anyone else could not join in.
will send an email

Hey guys i just moved to mandurah for magaret river surfed big waves most of my life done a lot of sailing moved down here because of work but the wave situation seems to be really suffering. Never liked kite surfers much down south but im now seeing the potential in it anyone want to take us out give us a few pointers i should find a full kit within the next couple of days. Either way im going to try to teach myself but would really appriciate some basic knowledge. In return for a few beers and a few laughs at the cost of myself. Or who knows i might just be a natural any way hey

getting a "cheap" set, teaching yourself and getting pointers for a few beers does not sound like something I want to be involved .. sorry
good luck with your efforts

lodgy79 - get lessons mate, if not for yourself, at least so your family can be sure you will come back in one piece. Kite surfing is by no means easy and the power of the wind is a force that can never be tamed. Respect it and you will enjoy yourself.

Kitesurfing in Denmark

Hi there,
just moved to Denmark WA and would like to learn Kitesurfing. Anyone out there to explain me some basics, or even giving me a couple of lessons (price per hour?)? I have no experiences with surfing yet, but I know how to fly a training Kite (1,5m). I do not have any equipment yet because I don't know whats best for me and on what details I have to pay attention when bying second hand stuff. I have a car, my weight is 88kg.
See you, Wolf
