I had finished sailboarding at Dutchies yesterday arvo (14th) and I thought I would check the Kiting area opposite the overpass to see if anyone had posted a "lost kiteboard" message on the fence there (I found one @ Dutchies last Wed).
Sitting in the carpark in a City of Fremantle car were 2 older gents in City of Fremantle uniforms watching and taking a great deal of interest in the kite activity on shore there.
I have no idea what they were up to but there may well be a move to restrict or monitor kiters activities along that stretch of beach -- or it was just a couple of older guys thinking of taking kiting up as a sport.![]()
Possibly worth checking with the council on their intentions if anyone cares....
Cheers
and I have posted in the Lost and Found section a couple of times regarding the board I have.
Hey Patsken,
Just FYI locals very much care. Leighton beach has had a bit of heat on it for some time, in fact a group of locals (leighton kiters) with the lead of WAKSA got on the front foot (this was almost two years ago now??) did some hard yards and put proposals to Freo and appropriate authorities, pretty sure a year down the track freo have said something similar to "its not a huge priority for us at the moment". This is still on WAKSA's agenda i believe.
A bit of self giverning should keep it useable for a while, i.e keep south of footbridge...hopefully this one isnt next on the hit list!
