Hi all
Just a friendly reminder that at this time of year the cobblers (venomous catfish) are present in the seaweed next to the shore. Two kiters got stung in the last 2 days in the northern beaches and I got stung twice myself over the last 2 years.
From reading on the windsurfing forum it seems even booties won't prevent them to sting you!
It also seems they actually attack you rather than you getting stung from simply stepping on one they go after you when they sense a threat. So probably a good idea to step in an out of the water very quickly and avoid hanging around... But that's just a guess as everyone I've seen stung was standing still in the seaweed.

Thanks for the heads up.

Nice work, apparently they are good to eat? I'd love to taste one after I torture him for 6 hours.
Head down to the fish and chip shop.. pricier than the usual hake.. (probably because it is, just sliced thicker).
Ammonia neutralize the venom. There is ammonia in piss, this takes the pain away!!
I had both feet done last year
hot water the hotter the better
takes about 3 - 4 hrs to wear off
farken stepped on one this morning in the peel inlet . That's two now and mine was like 15 minutes after steve darke stepped on one in the same spot lol .

Fark.. timely warning then. Hope you're doing ok after a few bevvies :)
Bloody painful, but this time did not last long....
Not sure if I just got scraped by it or it was because I had my foot in hot water within 20 mins (big thanks to Damo for looking after my gear)
After just 30 mins in hot water Pain subsided.
