Hi guys,

I'm planning a 10 days kite trip (Jan 9th - 19th), starting in Perth.
As this will be my first time kiting in WA (I'm from Switzerland, living in Thailand for the past 6 years and kite surf since 8 years), I'd be thankful for some tips/spots.

My plan for now is to rent a car in Perth and drive up north. First stop probably Lancelin, kite 2-3 days and continiue north.
What I'm reading here in the forum, Exmouth must have some amazing spots as well, but as I have limited time and prefer kiting over driving this is may too far.

I do like spots with loads of free space, but as I'm traveling alone, I'm more looking for spots where other kiters are as well. Safety first!

A second option would be join an kite safari, but I couldn't find any so far, matching the dates ill be there.

thanks guys, really appreciate your feedback.

Stefan

Mate you will have a ball. Lancelin can be a bit busy as its close to perth, but if you head up to the midwest you'll have more wind and more places to explore. Dongara, geraldton, coronation and Horrocks are superb, uncrowded and friendly.

enjoy!

Stefan it depends on the weather when you get here................North of Perth is normally a safe bet unless there's Nor West cyclonic fronts in which case you should head south to Margs, Augusta, Albany & Esperance.................just keep in mind that travel distances in WA are Big.

Enjoy yourself mate.

I agree with Weta, your best bet is to adapt your travel plans based on the forecast when you actually get here.

Going all the way to Exmouth is a bit of a push for just a 10 day trip. There are many great spots to explore around Perth and South as well. If the winds are SE down in Margaret River, you must get to Augusta for some epic flat water.

Shark Bay is another area to consider, not as far as Exmouth and some pretty amazing kiting as well.

January can get very hot sometimes and this can mess up the Seabreeze, but this usually means great SE's down south...
