Ive just got my hands on two of Gilion's, ( Fluid Kiteboarding), new Wood series boards. A Two Seven and a Minimalist. These have been sent over for a massive MKH Demo day at Inverloch in Victoria over the Easter long weekend. The Fluid kiteboarding Twoseven has been totally redesigned by Gilion. As this is his signature board, it has been designed to perfection for high speed freeriding and freestyling. The new Twoseven has been improved to perform in the most extreme conditions. With a new 3D base with additional gripchannels this improves the boards performance / grip in extreme conditions.
The Minimalist rides like a twintip, so even unhooked tricks are no problem with this board. With just a length of 138cm it really feels like a normal sized twintip however you'll feel that you have much more low end due to its width which is 47cm.
Gilion is offering these boards at an amazing price so

They remind me of Cutloose surfboards from SA, back in the day.
Shame G doesn't make a LW kite anymore. Steve, any plans for one?
Any reviews about the Minimalist board? As a beginner I'm looking for a board and interested in how this board performs

Straight out of the box, this board looks amazing; the clean lines and the thin edges make the board look professional. The grain of the wood, you just can't take your eyes off it. Picking it up, its light, considering the timber makes it look solid. The footpads are soft and comfortable but still allow you to feel the board under you. The first run, there is no learning curve with this board, its super responsive, with amazing speed when you want to step on the gas, but still have full control. With the channels cut into the base, you can change your speed on and off as you demand making it easy to time between breaking waves Even though the board is super thin for a full wood board, and seems to sit higher on the plane meaning it handle the chop with ease, with no spray. Now the fun bit, when you load this board up, the pop is huge, even before you hit the kickers, the landing and ride away is easy too. This is by far the shortest board I've ridden, but this board rides bigger than it is, I can't wait to get this out again.

I didn't want to come in after riding the fluid 2/7, but I thought I should give it a quick ride. Strapping my feet in, I hadn't adjusted them tight enough but I thought Id give it a crack, diving the kite and up and going and this board was smooth and soft under foot, My first thought was, man I could ride this all day, this would be a great board to do a big down winder or just go for a cruise, It didn't matter that the straps were loose because the board seem to stick under foot with ease. This board handled the chop easily and just made the experience simple. I can see why this is great for Beginners, I did try boosting but as the straps were loose the board fell off, and with the bright colours made it easy to see the board in the chop. And again, I didn't want to come in.
