Did the across the bay thing happen, or did I just see a random bunch of people kiting towards Mt Martha...

Awesome effort by all to kite in those conditions. By what I saw the event had gone past Brighton before the wind had even thought of sorting itself out. I heard rumours of dolphins and ummm even a bronzie? Be keen to hear that story

Over 70k were raised, an incredible outcome!

We ended up drifting for 30mins with zero wind 4k offshore Mornington with kites in the water when the seabreeze kicked in and saved the day. It was epic!

Across the bay photos are up. I'll put a link up with the photos in a separate post so people know where to find them. We were fortunate enough to have 3 togs out on the day.

Group photo

Rigging up

What the event probably felt like for most people for 45 minutes while waiting for the wind to pick up again. Good to see so many waited it out and completed the race.

Waiting to depart

Dan entertaining people in Port Melbourne while waiting for the arrival

Some people had way too much energy at the finish.

Good speed when there is wind

Foil boards made the trip as well. I think the first ones home was a raceboard and a foil board due to the wind drop (not sure in what order), largely because they were the only ones who could continue riding before the wind picked up.

Someone also posted this insane footage of the rigging area using a quadcopter. Not sure who was the one who created it so I can't credit the videographer.

Yes, a lot of us ran out of wind for a while off Mornington even though we were not close to shore, I was floating for over 30 minutes waiting for the wind. It was a great relief when it finally came. Could see kiters coming from behind in the distance. It was odd sitting there with no wind and the kite down waiting.

I didn't see any fish but later kiters saw many dolphins. There were also three sightings of a 1.5m brown fish with a big fin
