Heading back to the Gelebara Kite Camp August 20th to 25th. Had the best time when I was there a couple years ago. Constant supply of +20kts wind all day every day. Friendly locals who are very accommodating if you want to take part in local fishing and hunting. Let me know if anyone is keen and I'll get in touch with Mark Laruffa the camp owner.
Glat
They now have 3 huts with queen beds which are K180 per night, 1 hut with a queen and 2 singles which is K250 per night and 1 hut which has 2 queen beds also K250 per night.
So there is the ability to have sharing options now. $1 Aus =2 PNG kina. So halve those prices to convert to australian.
Just let me know what dates you are thinking and how many people and we can work from there.
They will pick up at airport, give you eskies, take you shopping etc in Port Moresby and then get you to the camp.
Hmm. Just looking at flight costs vs the cost of a new kite...
Can't just wait for a nice strong westerly to ride across from Cairns? :p
That would be ideal. I know people have kited across the Torres Strait island hopping as they go from Cape York to PNG. Maybe next time...
