Keen to gain some local knowledge about best winds for various spots around brisbane, Wellington point would probably be my most local spot, currently living in Wynnum.
Just wanna know where a good crowd ends up, who are more than helpful landing/launching.

My experience:

Beginner - Half a season in Perth - Confident getting up wind - confident turning - jumping with the odd successful landing.

Cheers for any advice

hey mate,,, my names ryan, im in brisy ,, been kiting 3 years now and i kite between redcliff and narrow neck at the gold coast,,,

my new favorite spot is at jumpinpin only excessable by boat, really good for riding in any wind direction and has either the sea way to ride in for experienced riders or a big shallow bay for the beginners or even waves on the other side of the sand dunes,,, ive been teaching my chick to ride there,,

I try to get out on the weekends when possible and always looking for fun people to kite with,

so hit us up and maybe we can get u doing some big kite loops soon ; )

Wello you always get a good crowd, and people there are very friendly and helpful. Just make sure you do not rig up, launch or land above the high water level mark, or you might get a $400 fine! Kiteboarding is banned in the entire Redlandshire reserve but as long as you are below the high water level mark and doesnt cause any safety concerns, it is a great spot to kite/windsurf. Works in almost most directions. Watch the mud, rocks and be very careful if you kite on the offshore side. As you live in Wynum you should also go and meet the crew at the kitebeach there. End of Davenport Drive (off Royal Esplande) next to the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is where all the kiters go. If you need anything, come and see us at Sandgate on the northside of Brisbane. Great shallow spot very ideal for learning or practising tricks. All sandy bottom no rocks/mud! Have fun and welcome to Brisbane!

For Good spots with friendly helpful kiters
Most spots if your are not a reckless smart arse and are friendly youself.
As a beginner avoid Narrowneck, Happy Valley, Curumbin.
Safest spots
SE / NE - Sandgate, Brighton
NE / NW - Small Wave Kirra / Bilinga Beach
SW - Red Beach
All directions - Jumpinpin (out of the current)
Wello has lots to cut your feet on.
Other spots with flat water have strong tidal flows to contend with
Such as Loders Creek, Shearwater, Golden Beach which depending on your level may or may not be an issue (remember the wind may drop or you may break a line / bridle).

Thanks alot hop. this helps because sometimes its easy name spots but i wouldnt be familiar with which winds for each spot so yea... great help...
Since arriving i've only been out at wello and coloundra at the rivermouth which was my best session. nice and flat going left to right and choppy against the swell right to left, best of both worlds loved it...

I know what you mean there with the current - - bit dodgy if the tide is rippin out. especially if the **** hits the fan ie: bridal, or even lofty conditions.

Cheers for all the advice.

Hi Kevin,

I'm also from Perth and now living in Wynnum. Theres a local spot in Manly which isn't the best but works if you're short on time and can't be bothered driving.

I've been out jumpinpin too, its a good spot but a bit scary if you're the only one there, send me a message if you're keen to go out there.

Same to you Ryan, send me a message if you want someone to go out to the pin with, I also have my own small boat.

Cheers.
