Hey. Will be cruising the Whitsundays mid Feb and wondering if it's worth taking my gear? Don't have tons of room but also don't want to miss out. I'm not sure of conditions that time of year and though it's generally good in SE QLD, I know it can be ordinary further north.
Hey mate, Whitsundays can be hit and miss, you might get a week of glass then a week of nice SE.
The best run for the SE is Hill Inlet – makes the pier channel look poor. Grab a buoy in Tongue bay and hike it over the headland.
Cheers Harlie. Will keep an eye on the forecast before I head off. The pier channel may be poor by comparison, but it's 5 minutes drive :)

Exactly - and it still much nicer than my local.
Hi guys, did this last week, much better at low tide than at high
bit gusty on the southerly but SE better
the anchorage at tongue bay is full of tourist boats pretty much all day so you get lots of spectators
all in all pretty sweet little spot, didn't see anywhere else I wanted to kite in the islands
I kited Whitehaven Beach a couple of times this month
Mid to low tide is best with SE wind
Amazingly beautiful spot
supa flat crystal clear water

I see liveaboards anchored in there. Is there a limit to how long you can stay? Is a week to long? If it was just me id just use the 5$ camp grounds south whitehaven but im thinking organiseing a semi constant "tour" or whatever. Well aware of ****ty wind but ive found a couple other spots for that
