Thumbs Up

Was down at Currumbin point Saturday gutted I didn’t pack my gear as the wind had popped up and was just sitting there relaxing watching kites as you do and was BLOWEN away by two absolute dangerous kiters, you local kiters at one of the best locations on the coast have to keep this sport safe down there, as I have heard that the council is on your arse,( just have a read of the latest kiteboarder Mag and have a read of the safety page )
For one , the two cool kiters that left the beach with there kites at 12 o’clock clambered up the rocks then over the 3 string wire fence then across the car park to there car , cooler than if god was a kiter , got to there car( two separate occasions ) still kite flying around at top of the window OPENED his sliding door to get another cool sick board he has then back the same way as I just said , listen mate there was at least three young kiters there looking up to you's and god knows how many non kiting people who just could see it was dangerous you aint F##king cool mate just idiots even if you jump the break wall with your mate filming , and the other kiter who didn’t look local but should know the rules at least 8 little kids was swimming up wind of you by as little as 3 metres and the little boy in the green rashee within a meter of you down wind THAT AINT COOL , this aint a beginner spot and girl or guy ' don’t spoil this spot , i know when the wind is on its on , but what i saw saturday was just pushing for currumbin to become just a swimmers lagoon.................... would be great to hear some local kiters views on what i just typed ,
cheers

The entire estuary, lake and creek entrance is a no-go zone for kiting.

A six knot limit is in force there and as such it is illegal to kite at that location.

Kiters are encouraged to use the northern side of the breakwater (Laceys Beach)

Kiting immediately in front of the lifesaving tower is also a No No.

Kiters should stay at least 60 meters away from any swimmers (double their line length)

We have had an ongoing problem with "showponies" using this area irresponsibly. Action is in the pipeline to prevent this type of behaviour continuing.

A photo of any person acting irresponsibly would be appreciated by SEQKA.

The association is determined to keep beaches on the Gold Coast open to kiting for all.

Cheers - Fitzy

Nicely said rondog. Recently I have seen some really F##king stupid stuff on the Goldy. Things like what you have mentioned is just damn right showing off and being a F##king clown. I saw a guy tie his chicken loop to a fence trying to launch himself.....25knot wind on a 13m waroo while myself and another mate of mine were within 30m of him, (just a little over his line length) the kite just mega looped 20 times while he was trying to hook in......FFS who teaches people these things let alone were does one gain the confidence to do so..........just pathetic on both occasions I say.

And as for Fitzy's post, he has and others have posted comments all before yet some ignorant arse always thinks its ok to do.....stay out of the forbidden area's before someone wrecks it for all....esp SEQ!!
