Hello everyone
i have recently been hit with the kiteboarding bug and loving it.
i done the training kite for the last 6 months and have just completed a couple of lessons managed to get up for a wee bit but more on my ass than on the board
i am having another lesson next weekend which i am quite pumped about.

i live in the redlands and go to wello point a fair bit to watch the kiters ripping it !!!!!
is wello a good place to practice my skills and is there any other newbies out there who would want to do the same.
post a pm if anyone would want to hook up for a session and a couple of coldies

Thanks

Hey dude,

Your doing everything right but Wello is not a forgiving place if you can't at least confidently hold your ground and go up wind.
If your in Redy Bay you can go to Thompsons Esp at Viccy point in a S/E'r or along the Esp at Thornside in a N/E'r both spots need a little tide but have land down wind rather than open water or sharp rocks like Wello. There are also no swimming kids to put in danger.

You'll find a few people kite at those spots when the wind is on.

The best spot to learn is Brighton/Sandgate but is a fair drive from down here if the winds iffy.

Cya on the water, Chris.

Hi Chris

I would say Brighton/ Sandgate is the pick spot to learn. Its shallow and very forgiving. The worst thing that can happen is you may need to go on a long walk until you can ride back up wind. There is always allot of learners there including myself but when you get allot of us together it can get a bit hazardous. Try and find a spot well clear of the next learner cause you dont want a kite hitting you in the head. I am up riding confident up and down wind now but when trying to negotiate your way through 3 or four lessons on top of 20 or more other kites it can get a bit daunting.
