Hi folks,
Been reading through the forums lately (some useful info around.. thanks!)

Now a friend and I were looking to get into Kitesurfing, unfortunetly he's had to pull out so I'm left on my own. So...

First, I'm looking where to do lessons. I'm based in North Brisbane so the Sunshine Coast is about an hour away and the Gold Coast is about 1.5 hours away and it doesn't really bother me which way I go - so, recommendations please?

Q. Do all/most lessons get you IKO Certified? I'd be looking at KS'ing overseas as well in future.

Secondly... as my friend has bailed on me, I'd be looking for Kiting buddies out there once I've done my lessons. I'm east of Beechmere but would probably travel up and down the coast.

Thirdly... Gear. I need to buy the whole setup and wouldn't have a clue where to start. Which instructors are also associated with stores so lessons & shopping is a whole lot easier!

Sorry for the n00b questions, look forward to meeting some of you soon.

Welcome to the addiction man.

Your best bet would be to go to sandgate/Brighton beach this arvo if there is any wind and you can choose from Briskites just around the corner at the Brighton end or surf connect connect/kite power down the sandgate end.

Won't take you long to suss it out once you are there mate.

Best of luck and I personally recommend you don't buy gear till you have had a few lessons and worked out what your main aim is after talking to people about their gear.

Good luck mate

I started just over 12months ago and had a couple of lessons down at brighton. You have picked a good shop to deal with and im sure they will have you up and carving in no time. Either Kite Power or Bris Kites would be my pick of stores to deal with by far. See you on the water.
