Hi All! I'm from WA and will be going on a worktrip to Brisbane on the 28th of Oct. I am thinking of extending the trip for a few days to experience some of your magic kite spots! Where would be a good spot to travel to as I am happy to leave Brisbane to visit a different kite spot?

Nick - check out the sites guide a few post further down - spots/downwinders/wind references/shops (bit dated here) Kite/Wind surf Foiling. Essentially coast faces east all open beached are good (subject to wind shadow (like a bluff or headland) - 80 degrees north and south for wind direction. Better wave zone along gold coast but certainly can be ok sunshine coast to the north. Flat water mostly in river mouths - exception is Victoria point in the bay. The tide range is approx 1 to 2 metres depending on the phase of the moon. Southport at KFC is popular flat water zone. The Windsurf crew go to Burrum heads annually for speed runs (Hervey bay way - 4 Hrs north).
There are a few none easterly zones for kiting with ok access probably the easiest access is southern end of Bribie island or Victoria point. I haven't kited Bongaree for ten years - hopefully someone else can chip in.

Cheers
