NB this has been put off till conditions improve
- none the less I want to know if there is sufficient interest.....![]()
The idea..
The Cooloola Beach Easter Kite Surf Enduro..
On a day over easter TBA a 20 to 30 Kms (max 40kms) downwinder along the Cooloola beach...
with a 1/2 way pitstop BBQ....
Referring to SEQLD Kite locations guide on google maps
DI to Teewah downwinder (N to S) -- Direction: NNE - E
Teewah to DI downwinder (S to N) -- Direction: SW - SE
Hazhards - Open beach - Tidal - 4WD - beach fishing - beach = a road + remote.
Description -- upto 40 Kms down winder. early 2000's a frenchie based in Noosa used to kite one way and hitch the other.
To drive on the beach you need a permit (Daily/weekly etc). Beach = gazetted road.
(DI = Double Island Point)
Weather / Tide permitting I will be going to check this stretch out.
If U R interested, U will need to
1) pm SEQldSites
2) Bring $5.00 for can & burger 4pitstop BBQ (or your own esky)
3) Organise 2+ per 4WD (permits etc)
4) Organise 2+ buddy system (looking out 4 each other kiting)
5) Sense of humour
+
option to swap gear as plenty of time / distance to chop & change.
Will setup a facebook site to coordinate if required....
To realistically expect to do a 10-15 km run to 1/2way pitstop you need to have kited in the surf and done a couple of downwinders.
I will take trailer / BBQ / food / camera
From start each 4WD needed for recovery will be driven to 1/2 way BBQ spot
and drivers will return with me to start. This will maximise kiters.
Any extra driver(s)/Photographers/cooks would help.
The rest was on timing / tide and meeting spot..
Currently the beach at Teewah is not a road - coffee rock exposed so limited car movement and then close to low tide ..... Will be checking it out in a few weeks...
If interested when I do this PM me...
Cheers

Hey,
If it happens I'm keen to join.
I have a 4wd and spare seats.
I am on the goldie about 1km away from KFC.
I will need a week or 2 notice, I broke a rib at KFC on Friday so I still have a bit of recovery ahead of me.
