Howdy, 7 days from now im moving to australia, I`m staying for a year or longer and sydney seems abit cold atm. So cairns will be my first destination! Will probly stay there for a while, find myself some work and kitesurf. Was thinking about bringing my equipment, board and harness and buymyself a new kite when im there.

So I was wondering if there are any fun and happy ppl who can show me around? :)
and is there any hostel where i can find kitesurfers on, more then the rest of the hostels?

Most of the kiting in Cairns is at Yorkeys Knob beach, a 20 min bus trip north from cairns. Cross onshore trades, big sandy beach, a rivermouth to give some fast flat play.
The offshore sandquays are particularly special but you need a boat. Green island is a fun fast spot also for the experienced. Not sure which backpackers but there are heaps here!
