Thanks for the enthusiasm Joffa.
It should be a great day and as you said a great way for kiters to meet kiters.
The Gold Coast stretches over about 26K of waterways and beaches, so days like this give us a chance to meet old friends in a common location.
Look forward to seeing you all there. Watch for the final post on Friday.![]()

looks like sunday is going to be the better day. When will the decision be made on what day it will run?
Probably make the call tonight (Thurs) Oceaneer although we were leaning towards Saturday so far but forecast is certainly stronger for Sunday... We will need good wind at Narrows if the sweep is the same on the weekend as it was during this week! Should see a new post here tonight....
Jeff
Ride Day is confirmed for SUNDAY start time is still 11am
Hope to see you all there and lets see if we can draw the raffle for the kite![]()
Well ....... We wanted wind and we sure got it.
The ride day was scheduled to commence at 11am. 11.01am wind speed was 30 to 41 knts.
It eventually settled down to a day of solid 25 to 30 knts with bright Gold Coast Sunshine.
Good roll up of socially minded kiters with the keenest hitting the large swell on a dropping tide.
The Slingshot Rev 11m kite was won by a very happy Tony Patrick of Hedges Ave, Mermaid Beach. What a great prize for an investment of only $20 !!! His comment when finally contacted was " Wow thats great, I have NEVER won anything in my life" He is now committed to joining the club.
The Huge Air COmp was keenly contested with some awesome performances by the wind jockeys. They kept the passing parade of beach walkers in awe of their aerial manouvers.
Some spectacular crashes by those pushing the limits were witnessed, with the ever increasing sandbar claiming a few victims.
The final winners were Johnno Horne, Steve Walker and Anton who took away some nice prizes.
Well done to all who joined in the competetion.
The surf was really solid and it was great to see the girls out there giving the big surf a workout. Angie, Terese, Kachina and some visiting lady kiters kept the guys honest and drew admiration from the crowd gathered along the esplanade.
Members enjoyed a barbecue lunch and were able to catch up with members from the length of the Gold Coast. Several new members joined at the event.
Thanks to all who helped make the day a success and we hope to see all at the next social event scheduled in the next few weeks.
