Hey guys,
good to see plenty of kites on the lagoon of late with some nice windy days of late. Some good riders ripping it up! I just wanted to point out that at present Rainbow Beach Surf Centre is the only current permit holder to conduct kite lessons here.
Any paid kite lessons in this area without a permit will be jumped on by local parks authorities.
Hope to see everyone back out on the lagoon soon.
cheers,
Ty

Also good to see someone paying his hard earned to a Government Department for a worthless piece of paper that is unenforceable!

ive seen this overseas a bit. basicly all that happens is the local school / club with the "permit" has a yelling match and threatens the competitions staff and customers untill they leave. not once have i seen it go down any other way.

Double island point, inskip point and rainbow beach are rainbow beach surf centres local beaches we use for teaching. Just like any other schools with thier local beaches, permits and insurances are applied to not only protect the sport but also protect other users, the public and impact on the area. This applies only to operators being paid to teach kitesurfing. Without the necessary permit the operator is not insured for that area. Same as any place in Australia. We have a very healthy relationship with local parks rangers in looking after the area and are very welcoming of all recreational kiters.
It's a beautiful spot, and is there to be enjoyed!

I don't think tenno deserves one red thumb here. If a local business does everything right, supports the sport in the area, fosters good relations with the local authorities, keeps the sport clean and well regarded, pays the money and jumps through the hoops to get the right paperwork, then they surely have the right to keep cowboy operators at bay?
