Thumbs Up

For those not in the know, there is a new CoastalWatch Surf Cam at the SYC - Hollywell near Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast. The Cam pans as far South to give a glimpse at what is happening up Shearwater way

Naturally as the Cam pans more Eastward and out in front of the Yacht Club you can see the winds are a little protected and wind shadows a bit from direct Southerly winds, which you may have to take into your considerations. There is a big Cabbage Palm, South of the Yacht Club as the Cam Pans South again, that can give you an indication of how much the wind is blowing if the water surface does not give that away.

So if your unsure of what's happening with wind and conditions for flat water Kiting up that way, then this no doubt is a great tool Almost the next best thing to having a Cam and Wind Gauge directly in front at Shearwater. I know I will be using it from now on a regular basis.

If you happen to be talking to anyone from SYC - Hollywell, make sure you put in a good word and let them know the Cam there is a great idea along with wanting the trial 6 knot speed limit zone for Motorised Vessels there to be continued and the hours increased to at least 6pm instead of Midday as the Trial is meant to be finishing come July 31
