Is shearwater a better option than Loders in a southerly ?
I went down this morning as the wind was 20kn on here but when I arrived there was no one there and the wind was hardly blowing. Checked the wind charts and it's still blowing 20kn !?!?
KFC is better spot on a northerly. It tends not to work to well on a southerly unless it has some east in it.
If the tide was low enough to expose the banks would have stopped any whitecaps and made it appear less windy. In at the shore also sometimes doesn't get the best wind due to the caravan park.
makes sense about needing some east in it!
got to loders at about 5.30am and stayed till about 6.30am trying to get the kite to stay in the air.
tide was going out and no whitecaps...
Saw some guys much further down who were flying.
ill try Shearwater next time!
Actually, looking back through it, it looks like I was a bit confused ![]()
I thought the OP was saying he went to shearwater when it was 20 knts,
which is where I was yesterday arvo.
I hope it all makes sense to you Main, if not, just let us know if we can help you out some more.
There are quite a few options at shearwater, it works well in n, ne, s, se, sw on opposing tides. I have even kited there in a straight east and got to kite island on one tack! It's only in northerly's that it tends feel lighter than what it's actually showing, but if you head to kite island in a 17 knt northerly you will have a blast!
Troy, you don't need boots or straps mate, just get that ironing board out again ![]()
I left my ironing board at shearwater one day, never to be seen again. Time to save up and build another
