Hey

Am heading to Coolum, Maroochydore, sunshine coast area this year after Xmas for a short holiday. Just curious if the wind is good this time round for a kite as I live in WA.???
Any tips advice appreciated

Spring, Summer and into Autumn is the best time for winds in SEQ - you should get prevailing SE or NE (cross-onshore) winds reasonably consistently. I use an 11m2 or 7m2 for the surf, which covers most conditions. July/ August (Winter) we can get periods of offshore Easterly winds, so not recommended. Can be very hot and wet over the Xmas/ January period though. Hopefully we'll start to get some decent winds soon, as there's been nothing for quite a while now!!

Hey Megsy,

yeah it gets good here- not as reliable as the WA summer winds, but our season is good for 9 months at least.

Try the river mouths for flat water - expect crowds at that time of year.

Give us a shout in the shop if your up for a down winder - we are regularly doing them on the south side of the coast. 10km Carties to Currimundi.

Enjoy the warm water - no need for rubber here.

See you then,
Mikey

I am also heading over to Sinny Queensland straight after Xmas for new years. We are going up to Palm Cove though. Whats this place like for kiting this time of year or do I need to travel a little further south????

buy a guide from kiteboardinglocations.com - has all the spots around south east queensland and tells you the best winds for each place and other stuff. Have a good time up here.
