Hi Guys and Gals!

I have been asked to be the social ride days coordinator for 2008 along with support from hopefully a couple other SEQKA members. What I would like to findout at this point is how everyone felt the social ride days worked last year and what would members enjoy doing more of this year? My favourite activities are generally downwinders on either flat water or surf. We could for example try to organise bus transport for a large group or car pool economically for a number of downwinders this year. Ideally finishing with a BBQ and possible pub crawl home?

Come and try/join in days at flatwater and surf venues around the Sth East during the year with demo gear to try, BBQ and some prizes. Can I get some feed back from you guys on how these worked out last year and how we might improve the format or location of these events...

Also preferred contact methods, I assume most ppl read the forums regularly and I will most likely have a data base of members email addresses to work with and hopefully our SEQKA web site and it's own forum area will be back on track soon. How would ppl prefer to be contacted?

As far as a Calendar was concerned I was thinking of publishing an online Calendar like yahoo that ppl can access directly and see what events have been scheduled and when, with this type of system you also will get updates (if you subscribe) if dates or location changes are made for events. So basically a live online Calendar that I can post events to with the ability for interaction with all members and interested parties.

I look forward to some feedback and ideas from you guys so I can get the ball rolling for 2008

cheers Jeff

Hey Oceaneer thanks for the reply, haven't heard about the dw to the Pin maybe Paulio setting up an exclusive one as only so many ppl have boats to get everyone back etc. I would like to organise some d/w soon for everyone before we lose the sea breezes, I am pretty busy with work over the next few months which takes up many of my weekends, looking for some support so I can organise weekends even when I'm working so the rest of you can have a great day!

I have a 12 seater bus available from my work that I can get on weekends when we are not traveling to tennis tournaments, if one other person (help) had a decent size bus we could get some pretty good d/w going with maybe a sign on list and a closing off number for seats on the bus - the rest could still join in but organise their own transport (car pool etc)

Also would like to setup a high profile d/w from say Miami to Narrowneck to show case the sport to Gold Coast beach users, I noticed a couple d/w last year had 50 odd kites up and it created a spectacular site from all angles of the central Surfers beaches...

Will setup an online diary with proposed dates (to be confirmed later) for everyone to peruse in the next week or so. Happy and safe kiting everyone

oops you will need to post me your email address so I can add you to the friends area so you have rights to modify and add to the Calendar. Will try to obtain members email list from Fitz ASAP to add all current members...

Good idea (club meet) and yes I used to post frequently on SEQKA web site - very much miss the constant contact that it provided.... Fitzy is organising email addresses for me so I can contact members directly via email and maybe direct a few more to these forums.

club meet - pub or beach?

kill two birds with one stone, have it at a pub on the beach, eg any of the lifesavers clubs. If people are going to be organising stuff i think it need to be indoors

Hey Jeff, would be good to bring this up at the next meeting but maybe as the season is soon to be over have a fancy dress season closer? I don't know just a suggestion but I'm not sure the best place as we have a good mix of wave and flatwater riders.

When is the next SEQKA meeting anyway?? When is the SEQKA website going to be back up and running, haven't heard anything since the last meeting.

Thanks for all your work on this

Caela .... We all understand that you are new to the Gold Coast but I have some amazingly stunning news for you.

The Kiting Season NEVER ends on the Gold Coast.

There are only two types of people in Australia.

Those who live on the Gold Coast and Those who want to !!!!

Hi,
Being both new to SEQld, and new to Kiteboarding, I thought the club would be a great way to learn and get to know some people. With the website being down, I have no idea how to join, how much it costs and what the club actually does. Can somone help me out before I am forced to move back home to 4mm wetsuits, booties and gloves.
Cheers
Cal

hi cal, fitzy is the best person to ask, but i think the cost is $65. Now this lets you into our exclusive club na seriously it cover you with insurance while you kite for a year, so if you take out some poor old woman on the beach you don't lose your house. Being a seqka member also lets you enter our local club riding days and kite competitions all over australia. Personally i think its worth it, plus if you hang out at club meets you will get to know people and have new buddies to ride with.
