Hi, im heading to the Gold Coast tonight and looking to get some kiting in this weekend.
I wanted to know where I am allowed to kite?
Are there any restrictions I should know about?
I checked out www.seqka.com.au but the site was not working.
Dont mind flat water but prefer kickers in the ocean.
Any help would be great. Cheers.
Try this......

Standard rules apply in the surf with flagged areas, 200m away from shoreline and at least 50m clear either side of all flagged areas.
Shark nets are approx. 400m from shore (yellow cans) so I use these as an indication of distance from beach
I understand u are partial to the odd DW, am pretty keen myself tomorrow so will rally some troops and flick u a pm with details if ur keen.
There maybe some issues with traffic due to car race so might allow bit extra time....
Some nice breaks at Narrowneck, Nobbys, and Palmy
Northerlies are schweeeeet man.............YeeeeoooooooooOOOoooooooow
Shear Water is the most ultimate place, I highly recommend it. It's on the northern end of the Gold Coast off Lae drive Runnaway bay. Great in all wind. 10/10 There are always plenty of awesome kite instructors to help. If you need lessons.

Stay away from Kfc as there have been numerous sightings of bull Sharks.
Gilly I'm keen for a Down Winder. Staying at Focus Apartments at Surfers. I'll flick you my mobile via pm.
Storm God. Let me know when you're in WA. I'll be more than helpful to return the favor.....
Thanks heaps, but ive kited all the best spots there. Just don't get caught by the life guards if you try kiting in the Margret River entry.
I had a great time on the 7m. Just went between two sets of flags, south of Narrowneck. Only seen 2 kites in 3 hours. Nice kickers and enough wind for some fun loops.
Thinking of heading up to Goldy with the fam in mid Dec probably staying in Mermaid beach but may be able to get around with a car. What winds and strength can you expect that time of year, is it worth bringing a kite? 10/12m? Or should I check the forecast before I go?

Winds usually kick in most days as an afternoon Seabreeze that time of the year at between 15 to 25kts but of course nothing is a dead certainty when it comes to the weather, occasionally the wind can be up in the morning past 10am. It would pretty well be your call on what kite to bring based on your weight, level of experience and style of kiting your proposing to do. If I were you, I would bring my gear even if the forecast was not showing as you would be spewing if the wind kicked in on a change in forecast a day out from when you arrive.
