Hi folks,

I'm relatively new to Australia, and have settled into the Northern 'burbs of Brisbane. I have my own kiteboarding equipment for really low wind conditions (huge kite and board) I picked up while working in the US but hardly ever used it.

It's been a couple of years since then, and beside body dragging and a strong background in snowboarding I haven't actually managed to get out kiteboarding. Would love to meet up with someone/some people or get some advice as to how I can give it a shot now that I'm back in a place that has a kiteboarding scene.

Cheers,
Richard

If the only way to learn here is through a lesson (not a club etc) then can someone provide some recommendations as to which instructors and what cost I should plan for? How many lessons did it take for you/the average person to get comfortable (obviously there are different levels and learning curves). I'm not looking to be reckless on the water so I'd appreciate more constructive advice.

Thanks.

hi there,

Kitethrills on the Sunny coast will look after you for lessons.

Not sure on costings, however they have been in the business for a while.

Definatley pay for 2 lessons and see how you go from there, if you have already had some experience i think 2 will be fine.

Alternately you can get some lessons from one of the Brisbane Shops, i can't personally recommend any tho.

Good luck with it

Northern burbs of Brisbane, then I guess you'll be kiting at Redcliffe area.

Try surf disconnect, kite depower, or as the others said Briz-Dislikes (Cabs & Liquidforce)

Most kiters in the area have their own preference. Brand of kite may give you the best indication of were you best fit.
