I'm heading to Bundaberg next week and I'm wondering if it's worth packing my 9.5m kite and gear.....
Can someone let me know if wind looks good and where's a good spot for kiting.
I've only been kiting 12 months I can't pull any tricks yet just cruising....
We are staying at woodgate beach...do they allow kiters on the beach there??
Woodgate would be good spot nice clean beaches you will need your biggest kite though the wind will be on the lite side . the sesson is only just starting so we get northerlys when they come so cross on there . at a gess 10-15 max so unless you are only 40 kgs bring your 11 or 12 or 14
Thanks heaps for that.
Well I am only 53kg...I have been out in really low wind for my kite and that was still a challenge to ride.
Our wind here can be the same...so many days of zero kiting....I really need to buy a bigger kite....![]()
Iam only 58kg and our wind in bay is lucky to hit 12 kn on a good day and i use a 11 meter for most of my kiting . I have a 6 for the really good days and when it is above 30 i use my sons 4 meter great fun .
Try google maps and look at Moore Park Beach. I kited there last Easter in about 15 knts, Nice beach with clear water and not another kite in sight. It's just north of Bundarberg. We entered off what i think is Moore park Rd straight onto the beach and you can travel down the beach south to some nice spots too. Was my first time there and dont know allot about the area but had a great kite there.
yes is was SE but am sure NE would be good too.
Wind doesn't look good for the next week or so, but things can change quickly. There is a nice river mouth to the north or Woodgate, accessable by road, works well in anything with an easterly in it on the outgoing. If you fancy a drive to Elliott heads via Bundy, the river mouth is excellent, but can be busy on weekends. If you spend lots of time body dragging back to your board still, watch out for the odd bull shark.
