Hi all

Im commencing a project up in Bowen shortly and will be spending a bit of time up there over the next few months. Just chasing some local knowledge regarding kiting locations around town....do / donts, stingers, etc.
Staying around Queens Beach area, can you kite here?
Kings Beach looks like it would work?
Alva is only 130km north, so ill be doing a few trips up that way when time permits, but wanting the low down on local Bowen spots in and around town.

From my limited experience the place is sick, lots of differing angles on the beaches and flat water around the don river. I know theres a few people on here that will be able to help you out a bit more indepth re wind direction but you'll be looking at a lot of SE trades around then. I'll be back up that way through May/June so may very well run into ya for a sesh.

Hey buddy, heading up there again soon myself...

Front beach works well SE (main street down to the water turn right then left into quay st) self landing at high is interesting as there is not much beach left but its a good spot. Kings and queens beach are also good spots although I've only kited there in NE - E mouth of the don river is good but as usual up there, be very careful... snappy things have been seen in the area from time to time around the mouth of the creeks. I haven't seen one there in years but they might still be around.

See you up there, be staying at Harbour Lights Caravan Park.
