I do love the wall on a good north westerly, but kitesurfing a few metres away from a humpback whale at Westlakes Shore was pretty awesome, too.
He or she stayed on the surface and watched the kites for a few minutes before moving on.
Is that nasty piece of mesh still there? On Friday 2 kiters tried to move it with no success. Another guy was gonna ring the council and ask for help. If it's still there I might email the council, alert them of the danger and offer to help remove it if they can get a 4wd down there to pull it out.
Failing that I might attach a buoy to it next time I'm there so at least we know whre it is?
marine & harbours r aware and r waiting for the storm to pass before they get it out or attach a buoy, a couple of people have notified them so they r keen to get it out, half a chance for thursday so hopefully before then.
Should SAKSA events be mobile like surf comps to take advantage of the best conditions? As i agree with Saffie the wall was great fri-sat
